About Manchester Township NJ
Manchester Township was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 6, 1865, from portions of Dover Township (now Toms River Township). Portions of the township were taken to from Lakehurst on April 7, 1921.
The township was named by William Torrey for Manchester, England.
There are seven 55+ older communities in Manchester.
They are Leisure Village West, Renaissance at Manchester, Leisure Knoll, River Pointe, Whiting Station, Leisure Ridge and Venue at Woodlands.
